Facts About Thailand

• PEOPLE: In Thailand about 90 % of the people are Buddhist, but nearly three million Muslims live in the south near Malaysia.
• CULTURE: Chinese and Indian culture have influenced the spicy food of Thailand. Many dishes include hot chillies, ginger, coconut milk and lemongrass.
• NATURE: Rain falls almost every day between the months of May and September. The deep forests of Thailand are home to the tiger, the wild ox, leopards and elephants.
• ECONOMY: Thailand depends greatly on its agriculture and tourism industries, Visitors will see the gold-layered spires of temples, pagodas and Buddha statues everywhere in Bangkok. This city is also know as the Venice of the East because of its 83 canals. Boats can be filled with fish, fruits and vegetables creating floating markets.
