Jacqueline Broy
Writer, Intercessor, Traveler
In 2003, both of my children were serving in the U.S. Army overseas during the war in Iraq. What was meant to paralyze me, God used to spur me on to write and self-publish my first devotional, Yahweh Tsuri: The Lord, My Rock. Thus, Rock Solid Word was born. Being rooted on the Rock got me through that difficult time. From there, I wrote monthly devotions for an online devotional ministry. With that wind beneath my writing wings, a completed manuscript for a children’s novel was submitted and rejected. My head said to pick up the pieces and move on, but my heart had no desire to write.
But thank God for His pursuing love. Writing is my portal to serve others, and in doing so, I write to serve and honor Him.
Writing words for hope and prayers for life, with a zest for travel to discover our diverse world.
Now for the fun stuff…
• Collected earthworms in a metal Band-Aid box as a five-year-old. Now I invite and encourage them to tunnel freely in my garden with enticements of composted food scraps and manure. Even after gardening for ten years, it is still a wonder to see new life spring up from a seemingly lifeless seed.
• Although I studied to be a speech-language pathologist in college, my right brain thrived in the Theatre classes, especially in the Costume Department. Historical fiction and period dramas are just my cup of tea.
• I never considered myself a crafter, but I am. In high school, I sewed outfits for myself, giving me the confidence to sew my wedding dress. As an empty-nester, I began beading jewelry and turned it into a business. Now, in my golden years, I have returned to the craft of my youth – crocheting. It’s very travel-friendly.
