The brain break from writing didn’t last. August was to be my time to start a crochet project, wash my windows, putter around in my garden and I did. But my brain allowed me about two weeks of vacating, and then said, “Back to work!!!” I’ve been working on two articles and on beefing up my social media presence. And that means posting an August blog. So I decided to share what has been happening this summer.
A Detour
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you,… Isaiah 43:2 WEBUS
We planned to go to Scandinavia this month, but had to cancel. A different journey was before us–seven weeks of radiation treatments and six months or more of hormone therapy. Cancer cells had reemerged in Hubby’s prostate area.
In July 2024, his prostate was surgically removed, and the bloodwork throughout that year revealed less than 1% of cancer cells in the area. Until this past spring. Then the cancer level rose to 4%. Once we got past this news, gathering information about the radiation treatment procedures and the use of estrogen to consume the testosterone feeding the cancer cells was my husband’s best offensive weapon against any fear of this aggressive enemy and the unknown. My best offensive weapon–PRAYER!
At this posting, Hubby is nearly halfway through the daily radiation treatments, and doing well. On that last day of radiation, we will celebrate and I will be there when he rings the All Done bell.

Brighter Moments
Even though Hubby and I have been going through our individual physical challenges since June 2024, this summer brought brighter moments.
In June, I sent my book proposal to a publisher. Some of you met me when I was still in the beginning stages of working on the manuscript. What started in 2020 as a book of prayers for road travelers turned into a book for everyone with prayers for the world around, your spiritual nature and your relationship with God. A prayer for every day of the year.
So far, I haven’t heard from the content editor. These things take time. If accepted, hallelujah! If rejected, amen because the right home for my book is waiting to be discovered.
Another bright moment was the birth of our granddaughter Gianna Issa born 21 July. We will get to meet her in person soon. For now, it’s photos and FaceTime. In the meantime, our four-year-old grandson is being the perfect Big Brother.
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: And the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalms 127:3 KJV
