Packing Cubes
May 30, 2024

Would I recommend packing cubes for travelers? Yes, and here’s why:

  • The variety of cubes – my set of eight included separate bags for laundry, shoes, toiletries, and accessories with four cubes ranging in sizes from small to large for clothing
  • The flexible material (polyester) and breathable mesh openings
  • The instructions for how to roll and/or fold clothes to fully utilize a cube’s space
  • My suitcase stayed tidy and organized, but there was a problem….me.

I fell into the overpacking trap using more cubes than I needed to take more clothes than necessary. The result was a heavy suitcase going and a heavier one coming home. If you purchase the packing cubes, don’t do as I did. Follow the old travel adage: Pack less clothes. Take more money.

A Limerick for My Packing Cubes

They caught my attention on Instagram.
Great! My travel clothes won’t look like a logjam.
I stuffed every cube
With all the clothes I could use.
And the suitcase…too many kilograms.

I must order packing cubes! Maybe just maybe it will help to not overpack??? Recently I realized rolling my clothes is the best way to pack!

    Hi JackiB!

Like you and so many others, I always over-pack. I’ve never used packing cubes but have seen them advertised more recently. I still use the old “fold and roll” technique which provides so much more space for clothes, shoes, toiletries, etc. than I need to take. I love the old travel adage: Pack less clothes. Take more money. I’m looking forward to trying travel cubes the next time I vacation.
